“Ah sh*t, here we go again…” - weed stock investors
Before GameStop and Nvidia we had Tilray $TLRY ( ▼ 8.07% ) and Canopy Growth $CGC ( ▼ 2.87% ). Bring me back.
Well, pot stocks did their best 2018 impression on Friday, thanks to some positive news out of DC. Rumor has it that Donny Blaze is going to legalize it reclassify it. Now his favorite food makes so much more sense…
Today (or, perhaps as a nod to stoners, in a few days, when he gets around…) POTUS is expected to sign an exec order that would reclassify weed to a Schedule III drug. For all you straight edge dorks out there, it’s currently a Schedule I.
Schedule I includes the drugs that all the people who never left your hometown enjoy the taste of: heroin, LSD, and bath salts…
Meanwhile, Schedule III’s hardest-hitting narcotic is Tylenol with codeine.
Let’s be clear…
This won’t make weed legal on the federal level, but the narcs will give even fewer f*cks about the devil’s lettuce.
But this reclassification will help “legal” weed sellers fall under different tax guidelines and become more attractive investments. Plus, it could help pressure Congress to make jazz cabbage totally kosher.
Ok, now do nose beers…

+ Look how they massacred my boy…

CNBC officially rolled out its new logo on Saturday, and this might be the worst thing to happen to business TV coverage since Cheddar. It looks like the logo of state-run media in a third-world country that’s quickly descending into civil war.
+ You guys are never going to guess what Coinbase has up its sleeve…
Just in case trading short-dated sh*tcoin options wasn’t enough of a rush, now you can predict whether Elon Musk will say the word “micropen*s” on an earnings call… right from the comfort of your Coinbase $COIN ( ▼ 4.96% ) account.
COIN will collab with Kalshi to bring prediction markets to its crypto brokerage, because f*ck it… what’s the worst that could happen?
Meanwhile, Charles Schwab’s $SCHW ( ▼ 0.75% ) CEO threw some not-so-subtle shade at Robinhood, and pretty much everyone else in the retail brokerage game.
Rick Wurster said there’s “a really bright line between investing and gambling.” Translation? Boomers are gonna need to have their adult children download Kalshi on their iPad if they want to get their prediction market on.
+ The Hunt brothers walked so Kabuto King could run…
There’s a Pokémon collector out there who is cornering the market on first-edition Kabutos (an otherwise pretty unremarkable card). He’s quietly purchased more than 2k of them… which has sent the price up more than 970%.
In case you were wondering, Kabuto King ain’t no sellout…

It feels like the right time to finally pull together all of my thoughts about creating killer newsletter content and building an audience the right way.
Later this month, I’m launching the Chief Newsletter Officer newsletter.
Every Thursday, I’ll send a newsletter to current and aspiring newsletter operators with tactics and takeaways from nearly a decade in the newsletter trenches. No filter, just like TWC.

+ US stocks “pulled back on Friday as investors continued to exit technology stocks and move into value areas of the market.” (CNBC)
+ The 10-year yield “surged on Friday after Chicago Federal Reserve President Austan Goolsbee warned against the central bank further lowering interest rates after making three cuts since September.” (CNBC)
+ Oil “prices rose Friday, bouncing after sharp losses in the previous session, supported by a report that the U.S. is preparing to intercept more tankers carrying Venezuelan oil, stoking supply disruption worries.” (Reuters)
+ The “smart” money (prediction markets) thinks there’s an 85% chance Anthony Joshua beats Jake Paul this weekend. (Polymarket)

⏪ On Friday…
+ Notable companies due to report included Johnson Outdoors
+ Nasdaq 100 index changes were announced
⏩ Today we’re keeping an eye on…
+ Nothing to see here…

Friday, I asked, “Which one is the GOATed Disney franchise (multiple movies)? You have to consider ALL movies in any series in your decision, even the bad ones ('sup, "On Stranger Tides")?”
27.2% of you said “Star Wars.”
Here’s what some of you guys had to say…
Star Wars: “My grandsons chose Cars, granddaughters Frozen. ”
Star Wars: “Trick question: Disney is no more the creator of the Star Wars franchise than a collector is a war hero for purchasing an old Purple Heart. That said, Stars Wars (created by George Lucas) is the GOAT of any franchise list.”
Toy Story: “Subjectively, it’s Star Wars. But objectively, it’s Toy Story. I don’t write the rules”
The Avengers (yea, all of them): “I knew Star Wars would win. So many virgins addicted to TWC.”
Frozen: “Tell me I have a five year old without telling me I have a five year old.”
Here’s today’s question…
Who was the GOAT OG (think: 1999 first 151) Pokemon?
Oh, and one more thing…

Does this look like the face of a guy you should take financial advice from?

No, it’s the face of an individual who is financially irresponsible/dumb enough to be talked into spending money on a family photo shoot that he could have just done with his iPhone. So, act accordingly...
