Story time…

The year was 2017. I was working in financial services consulting (*throws up in mouth a little bit*). Every day, I was reading traditional financial news (WSJ, Bloomberg, FT, etc.).

And I kept thinking one thing: this f*cking sucks none of it was written for me.

So way back in the year of our lord 2017, I decided to change that. I started this newsletter with one goal: to cover markets and business news the way I actually talk about it with my friends and colleagues.

Fast forward to 2019, and I had the opportunity to leave corporate America and start writing about markets, multinationals, and the main characters who run the show full-time.

Then in 2021, thanks at least partially to meme-stock mania (shoutout Roaring Kitty), TWC was acquired by Barstool Sports.

By 2023, that had run its course, and I left Barstool… with The Water Coolest (that’s a story for another day). And it’s been 100% independent ever since.

The awesome thing about having no investors or corporate media overlords is that I can do whatever I damn well please. And my only agenda is making sure you all love this newsletter.

Which means reader input is super important.
