Remember in April when Elon said he was going to launch TruthGPT to counteract what he deemed to be left-leaning AI chatbots (looking at you ChatGPT)?

Welp, that company, which is now called xAI (because, of course, it is), could fetch a valuation of between $4B and $10B. What have you done in the past year?

Yesterday, news broke that the company is raising up to $1B and already has $134M committed.

Better late than never, I guess…

Interestingly, Elon was one of the “founders”, er, donors, of OpenAI before it went for-profit. He ended up walking away after a falling out with Sam Altman over control of the company.

Now Elon’s playing catch up… something he’s not used to doing (see: Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, and I guess, even the Boring Company).

To be fair, xAI just launched its first chatbot (Grok)… last month.

Perhaps Elon can ask Grok to write an apology letter to X advertisers?
